What is Psoriatic Arthritis (PSA)?

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a condition that combines the swollen, sore joints of arthritis with psoriasis. Psoriasis causes itchy, scaly red patches to appear on your skin and scalp. To learn more about psoriasis, click here.

What is Obesity?

Obesity is a medical condition characterized by an excessive amount of body fat, increasing the risk of various health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. It affects individuals of all ages but is most prevalent among adults, with higher rates observed in certain racial and ethnic groups. To learn more about obesity, click here.

This is a joint internal medicine and rheumatology clinical trial.

 

What is Internal Medicine?

Internal medicine is a branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of adult diseases. Internists, or physicians specializing in internal medicine, manage a wide range of conditions affecting various organ systems, providing comprehensive care for chronic illnesses and complex medical issues. What is Rheumatology?

This is a rheumatology trial. Rheumatology is the branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases, which affect the joints, muscles, and connective tissues. Rheumatologists manage conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and ankylosing spondylitis, aiming to reduce pain and improve joint function.

This study may be right for you if:

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are medically classified as obese (meaning you have a BMI of 30.0 or higher)

  • You have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis by a medical professional
  • You are able to travel to our clinics*
